The History of Submarines and U-Boats

Editor: Sometimes, in the midst of all of concern that is going on these days, something comes along to warm your heart.  RUSI(NS) has received a very nice email from a mother, Corrine Hayes, whose daughter Hannah found information on the RUSI(NS) website useful with her homework.  From the perspective of RUSI(NS), Hannah’s work is timely.  It is not too early for attention on planning replacement of the Victoria-class submarines of the Royal Canadian Navy.  Going forward with submarines, it is good to know their history. An extract of Corinne’s email follows.

I hope you don’t mind me contacting you in these scary times…but I figured everyone could use a nice message these days! 🙂

As a Mom, I’m just reaching out to let the RUSI(NS) know your page (http://rusi-ns.ca/about-us/links/) was a big help to my daughter Hannah.

With all the uncertainty happening with the coronavirus, Hannah’s school has been closed indefinitely.  The school has moved all of their work to virtual classrooms online.  It’s been quite the transition for sure, but I’m doing my best to help Hannah with her homework to ensure she doesn’t fall behind!

Right now I’m helping Hannah with a maritime history project for her history class.  Your page led us to some great information to include, so I wanted to make sure we thanked you 🙂

Hannah found this guide last night which I was very impressed with!  I thought it was perfect to share!  This is it….

I think it would be great addition to your page that I mentioned above.  I would appreciate it so much!

I think encouragement does wonders in kids and I know she’d get a kick out of it.  It’s nice to feel “connected” to people right now, even if we’re practicing social distancing.

Sincerely,

Corrine and Hannah
