Marine Security Operations Centre – East

Cora Pictou, with the assistance of Peter Service, both of Transport Canada, spoke to RUSI(NS) and guests 17 March 2021. Her presentation was titled “Marine Security Operations Centre – East.”

Marine Security Operations Centres (MSOC) were established in 2004 to strengthen maritime security. Today, there are three MSOC in Canada: Halifax, Nova Scotia; Esquimalt, British Columbia; and Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The MSOC feature a multi-agency approach, co-locating six federal units including Transport Canada in all three centres. This presentation focused on the Halifax operation and on Transport Canada’s role.
