The Canadian Armed Forces and others are currently and routinely engaged in training local peoples for defence and security missions.  This is not a new experience, even for Canada - there is history in training others from which insights can be gained and lessons applied today.  Sara Beanlands, senior archaeologist with Boreas Consulting (http://www.boreasheritage.ca/aboutus.html), will speak on "The Training of the Jewish Legion at Fort Edward during the First World War."
